TIME TO RELAX
Making sure your dog is safe, happy, relaxed and stress-free is our main objective while boarding. Being away from home can be stressful to some dogs, no matter how much we try to make Dog Town their home-away-from-home. Separation from you, a thunderstorm or fireworks can cause dogs to become nervous or fearful. To help them during these stressful times, we use a few different tools which have been proven to be a safe, effective and gentle means to put your dog at ease.
Thundershirts: A ThunderShirt is a lightweight shirt that applies gentle, constant pressure on a dog's torso. Using pressure to relieve anxiety has been a common practice for years. It is believed by many experts that this type of pressure works in a similar manner to swaddling an infant or people with autism using pressure to reduce persistent anxiety.
Lavender essential oils room mist: We often mist this mixture of lavender essential oils and water in our cabins to promote calmness and relaxation. Lavender is well-known for its ability to help reduce stress and anxiety.
Rescue Remedy Cream & Five-Flower Formula: Both of these herbal remedies are praised by many pet owners for their remarkable ability to address anxiety and stressful situations. They work wonders for animals that are impatient, are generally fearful, have fear of thunder and fireworks or do not feel themselves. Both formulas contain: Impatiens, Star of Bethlehem, Cherry Plum, Rock Rose and Clematis. We use a spray that can be misted in the dog’s room or on their bedding, and a cream that can be wiped on their ears.
Check-in / Check-out
Boarding charges are incurred for the first day’s stay regardless of what time the pet arrives. There will be no charge for the last day’s stay if the dog is picked up before 11:00 AM.
The office is closed for pick-ups and drop-offs on the following holidays: July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day & New Year’s Day.
Even though the office is closed during major holidays, we never stop caring for your pets. Our staff is here 24/7!
We do not require a minimum stay.
Please pre-bag your dog’s food in meal-sized portions and label each bag/container with your dog’s first and last names. We cannot accept large bags or containers of food!
Holiday Rates: (as of April 2, 2018)
In order to compensate our dedicated employees who work on major holidays, our boarding rates will be increased by $10 per dog for all major holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day).
We require 48-hours advance notice if you wish to cancel your reservation or schedule an early pick-up for your dog. If you do not give advance notice in accordance with our cancellation policy, you will be charged for 50% of the total reservation or remainder thereof.
Early returns create a significant problem when we are not given notice prior to arrival. If bathing or grooming is scheduled, those services are usually done the day of departure. We also like to be sure your pet's belongings and discharge paperwork are prepared for you at your scheduled check-out time, so these things may not yet be done if you arrive unexpectedly early. Early departures also create vacancies in rooms that might have otherwise been reserved by other customers. For these reasons, owners that return ahead of their scheduled pick-up time are required to pay for the entire reservation unless notification is given 48-hours prior to pre-arranged pick-up.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in these matters.
Proof of Vaccinations
For all dogs visiting The Yellow Dog’s Barn for daycare and/or boarding, we require a veterinary certificate providing proof that your pet is current on all required vaccinations and tests a minimum of seven days prior to visiting us. Dog’s must have current Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccines, as well as a negative fecal/giardia test. Giardia test must be sent out to a lab by your veterinarian.
Dog’s must also be on a heartworm preventative and some form of flea/tick preventative. We also accept titers in lieu of vaccinations. If your veterinarian recommends that your dog not be vaccinated, please call us to discuss your pet’s special needs. We must have your pet’s application and proof of all vaccinations & fecal/giardia test results at least 2 days prior to daycare and/or boarding!
All pets will be checked for fleas and ticks upon arrival. If necessary, we will give your pet a bath using an all-natural flea shampoo at the owner’s expense.

THE BARK AROUND TOWN
I am so happy I found The Yellow Dog's Barn! This was my first time boarding my 6 month old puppy as we were going to Florida for 5 days. I did a ton of research and TYDB didn't disappoint. We were able to take a tour of the facility and meet the staff prior to his stay. All the caretakers are wonderful and I truly felt like Knox was safe and well cared for. Our puppy did daycare during the day and stayed in Dog Town for boarding. I think he wanted to stay even longer! We received daily updates and were able to see pictures of him at daycare on their Facebook page. So grateful to everyone at TYDB! 10/10 would recommend! - E. Schmidt
I had never considered boarding my dog before, but circumstances required it. I contacted Yellow Dog's with some speculation and worry. I couldn't have been more wrong. From my first interaction and tour of the facility my worries were gone. The staff and owners were available for every request and question I had. They cared for my dog like he was one of their own and made sure to answer any call I made during his stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and will not hesitate to let my dog go on vacation at Yellow Dog's Barn in the future.- Brian V
We planned to stay in Boston for the night and were looking for a place to board our three small dogs. When I toured The Yellow Dog's Barn, I immediately felt comfortable with the accommodations and staff. My dogs are ridiculously spoiled and pampered, and it's so hard for me to leave them, but I would definitely use YDB again. The staff will provide updates on your dog on request, and they give you a full report when you check out. They took excellent care of our babies and all the stuff we sent with them (beds, blankets, toys, food in tupperware, etc.). I found their rates to be extremely reasonable as well. Highly recommended!- Marty G.
